Privacy
Your seeking is your own. We keep it that way.
Adisthan is a free, community-kept directory of sacred places, operated by AdiDhara. This page explains, in plain words, what we collect, why, and the promises we make. If anything here is unclear, write to i@ec.im.
Our promises, first
- We never sell or share devotee data. Not to advertisers, not to brokers, not to anyone. This is doctrine, not policy.
- There are no ads and no trackers for advertising. There is no third-party analytics script on this site today.
- Your spiritual interests stay private. Which places you save, what you inquire about, and what draws you are never published or profiled.
What we collect, and why
- Account: your email and optional name, used to sign you in (magic link or Google) and to attribute your contributions. Google sign-in shares only your basic profile with us.
- Contributions: place submissions, edit suggestions, reports, and proposals you send, kept with your email so reviewers can follow up and so you can be credited.
- Custodianship claims: the details and any verification document you upload, used solely to verify your role at a place. Documents live in private storage, visible only to reviewing admins.
- Saved places: kept privately against your account so your list follows you.
- Lineage inquiries: read only by the AdiDhara team, answered personally, never used for anything else.
- Technical logs: our servers keep short-lived request logs (including IP addresses) for security and rate-limiting. We use session cookies only, for sign-in; there are no advertising cookies.
Where your data lives
On Amazon Web Services in London (eu-west-2), with encrypted storage and 7-day backups. Sign-in and notification emails are delivered by Resend. These providers process data on our instructions and nothing more.
Your rights
You may ask us at any time to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or erase it. You can delete your account yourself from account settings: deletion is immediate and removes your account, sessions, and saved places; contributions already published on a page remain part of the page's history but are no longer linked to you. If you are in the UK or EU, these are your GDPR rights and we honour them without friction.
Retention
Accounts live until you delete them. Review-queue items (suggestions, claims, inquiries) are kept while relevant to the running of the directory and pruned when no longer needed. Backups roll off after 7 days.
Children
Adisthan is a general-audience directory and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it, and material changes will be noted plainly. The promises in the first section do not change.
