About

Bishyanath Temple is a Hindu temple in the Mymensingh district of northern Bangladesh, dedicated to Lord Śiva. Standing among the older Hindu places of worship in the region, it is counted as one of the notable temples of the district.

What sets the temple apart is its uncommon pagoda-like architectural form — an unusual choice among Bengali Hindu temples, which more typically take the navaratna, ekaratna, or tile-roofed chala forms. The pagoda profile lends Bishyanath a quiet distinctiveness on the Mymensingh sacred landscape, where Śaiva devotion has long formed part of the local rhythm of worship.

Like many Hindu temples of present-day Bangladesh, Bishyanath is cared for by its surrounding community, who gather here especially during Śivarātri, Caitra Sankrānti, and the annual cycle of Śaiva festivals.
