Laxmi Narayan Mandir
About
Laxmi Narayan Mandir is a Hindu shrine in the city of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Its presiding deity is Lakshmi Narayan, the divine couple in which Vishnu the preserver and Lakshmi the goddess of prosperity, beauty, and grace are venerated together as a single form. In this joined image, the devotional theology of Vaishnavism finds one of its most beloved and accessible expressions.
Temples to Lakshmi Narayan are found across the Indian subcontinent and the wider Hindu diaspora, from Dhaka to Delhi, Jaipur, Karachi, Bradford, Belfast, and beyond. Each carries forward the conviction that the worship of Vishnu and Lakshmi together draws down both spiritual liberation and worldly well-being, and that the household and the sanctum alike are blessed when the couple is honoured side by side.
The Dhaka shrine continues in the long Bengal Vaishnava tradition that has shaped Hindu religious life across the region for centuries. It remains a place of darshan and devotion for the local Hindu community in a city whose sacred geography also embraces Kali temples, Shiva mandirs, and the wider currents of South Asian devotion.
